Finally it was time for a new videomeeting with Vestfold Minihus, the super comany which is gonna build my tiny when the trailer arrives Norway in October.
This is probably the third video meeting we’ve had and it only lasted half as long as usual: Only 1 hour this time! Quick and efficient π
!
On the agenda for today was going through my PDF compendium
“Irene’s tiny house v.2.0”
..which I had sent them consisting of 17 pages covering all details from large to small in addition to 14 updated drawings.
What’s new is: That I want a fireplace after all, a side-by-side fridge (with water and ice cubes, so they have to arrange water over to it) and that I changed the shape of the roof from a pitched roof to a normal salt roof for best utilization of the ceiling height. We went through room by room and I think I have decided on a few things:
(I think it’s really hard to make up my mind COMPLETELY about anything..π)
Tips and advice are greatly appreciated!
Number 1:
Next to the front door, I want a side panel/window, but whether it should be a full piece of glass or with slats/panes, and how wide it should be seems a bit difficult to decide on, but I think the choice ends up on being full glass and 30 cm (about a foot) wide. About as in the picture, and I think it will look good together with Gilje’s door “Doris”. Meet Doris the doorππ! And as a handle/alarm/doorbell/lock, I want a fancy Yaleman digital door lock. Here is a picture of Doris the door with a sidewindow and I think it looks really nice. Have to think about the little doggo girl who will one day look out to see who’s coming β€οΈ
Number 2:
Black or white sockets in the bathroom (there are “cracked cement” bathroom tiles which are gray and there will be a lot of black details elsewhere in the bathroom)? Think I’ve landed on black at “eye level” and the floor while the ceiling will have white sockets for lighting and fan.
Number 3:
Size of the water heater. Found one that’s 140 liters (37 gallons) and fits under the counter in the kitchen, and I do believe that should be enough.
Some things to still think about (tips and advice are very welcome!):
- Where should electricity and water outlets be on the outside? (Perhaps used for terrace heaters, high-pressure washers and such?..)
- When you’re up on the sleeping loft (I’ll explain as best I can here), you have to open a 200x60cm (6,5 ft x 2 ft) “floor gap” to get down. When the limb is open, it acts as a fence so you don’t fall down. I want that limb/floor door to be flush with the floor of the loft when it’s closed so I get the most floor space possible. It shouldn’t be super heavy, otherwise I’d have to find some kind of electric opening function (which actually would be pretty cool).
- Which extractor fan should be in the bathroom (and with or without a humidity sensor, or should it only have an on/off button? Some fans with a humidity sensor are so sensitive that they turn on if it’s raining outside, and it seems a bit stressful π ) and how many fans should I have in total in the house (and which type)? Maybe have a mini ventilation from Mitsubishi in the living room?
I actually have no words for how much I am looking forward to this house being finished!
But also for the entire construction process. Will be visiting the guys in TΓΈnsberg after the trailer has arrived at their workshop. I can see myself standing in tears and taking pictures and documenting how little time is left before moving in can happen. I can hardly imagine one day actually ordering a truck or tractor or whatever it will be to transport the house and see it being driven along the road. Hope it’s sunny and not too cold or too much snow. It will happen in February/March next year, and those are two somewhat bipolar months, so anything can happen.
After the meeting I had to let out some energy!
The pictures in the slider below are not for the faint of heart!
So then there was a 7.5 km run around Vigelandsparken and today it was full of people! Absolutely beautiful to see! And nice that the package from Zalando arrived when I was on my way home, so I picked it up and got some new t-shirts, trousers, shoes and a few other things π (I think pants are DEADLY HARD to find!)
Other than that, I cleaned my apartment, had a strength work out here at home with dumbbells, watered the plants (which have been out in the sun on the terrace all day and are very happy) and drew a little β€οΈ
What things have been difficult to decide on in your tiny house? And is there anything you would have done differently if you could? π
Thank you so much for reading β€οΈ
