All the pieces are in place – moving my house in TWO DAYS!

It has been a looong time since I wrote anything on my blog, and for that I am truely sorry! I have gotten asked about how I am doing and when my next blog and YouTube video will be out and I am so grateful for all your support! Things have been crazy the last couple of months, but NOW everything is perfect! And:

is THE DAY!

Dalen Transport are the superheroes here, and they line up with their special trailer at 08:00 at Vestfold Minihus, ready for transport! In addition, I have hired a tractor with a driver who will back the house onto the well trailer. The wheels and drag must then be dismantled before transport. Am so excited!

As of right now, my house is standing on eight support trestles, so Vestfold Minihus (the building company) will gently lower my house down on to it’s own wheels before moving day. I have bought the support trestles so I am assured that my house will be safe and secure in it’s final destination.

If everything goes as planned, it will all take about 4-5 hours untill we reach the beautiful farm I have found. And what a journey it all has been to find the perfect parking spot! I have made so many new friends and acquaintances, found a ton of parking spots and even showed up in the local news paper!

I have found a spot that offers breathtaking views of scenic natural landscape in a place called Vestby.

Picture underneath:

The house will be put on the right side of the picture, by the yellow strip of grass. 10m x 15m (32in x 50in) of the trees will be removed so that there will be space enough to lift my house in place in the back of the space and give me room to build a pretty big terrace in front. There are fields, grass and forest as far as the eye can see and really is a place where you can relax. The farm mainly consists of cultivated land and forest. And there’s even a sweet apple tree at the end that becomes my nearest neighbor.

The sun will come into my kitchen window from the east in the morning and shine on the house all day before I can enjoy the sunset in the west in the evening. I imagine some late nights on the roof terrace ❤️ Guitar, chairs, blankets, something good to eat and drink. There is plenty of space for a car on a small piece of visible mountain right next to the house. I imagine some rough car pictures from here, haha. Especially with Lille Lilla, which is the car I’m currently borrowing from my mum.

Preparations!

And last week we rented a large van, took the Moss-Horten ferry (for the first time! So much fun!) and emptied the tiny house completely so that it is ready for transport. I had asked to get all the remaining building so that I can build some things later on. Among other things, a skirt for the house, so it will be in the same materials as the cladding. And a bunch of poplar boards (the same boards I have on the walls and ceiling). Think of all the fun things one can make!

I would like to try my hand at a kind of box that you attach to the ceiling that “tilts” down and contains many secret things (spy documents and candy wrappers that you have to hide when you’re on a diet!).

Not easy to get up without a ladder!

The last thing that remains to do inside the house is to attach the refrigerator with eye hooks and straps, install the shower hose in the shower and glue on the edging on the bench in the bathroom. The stove and dishwasher have not been installed yet, so I will just bring that into the car on Thursday. All kitchen drawers must be taped with masking tape to prevent them from opening during transport, and the sliding doors must be locked in a fixed position.

I almost can’t believe that this really is happening! I have been waiting for so many years! Usually it is months and weeks untill the house is built, but now it’s all of a sudden moving time! Woooow!

Moving in two rounds!

In the first round the house will only be moved to the farm, get pulled off the well trailer by another tractor and put on the side. Then the same tractor will prepare the exact parking spot by removing some trees and making the ground safe and good.

The house will be lifted into the woods, but that’s not for another two weeks.

The travel route:

Picture above:

I imagined being able to take the boat straight across from Horten to Moss, but because it may be low tide, the boat will be so low that the trailer cannot get over the edge and down to/into the boat, says the trailer driver. The Oslofjord Tunnel is closed every single day, so we absolutely cannot count on it, so we end up driving all the way around. Gonna be a nice trip! 😍

When only Thursday has come and gone (and everything has gone well), I will be a happy girl on this earth! And while I’m waiting for my forest patch to be finished preparing, I’m going to stain the whole house inside! After all, all the walls and ceiling are in untreated poplar, and it is extremely susceptible to marks and sun bleaching. So there will be staining and painting and then slowly start fitting lights and making some “roof boxes” to hide the sockets and converters for the ceiling lights. I also have to install the toilet and all the smart house things, and order internet! And a million other things!

Imagine the house surrounded by forest, fruit trees and flowers. Large terrace along the entire house and a view that can take your breath away. At the top of the house there is a roof terrace with glass fences, low, big furniture, lights and a good atmosphere ❤️ Maybe I should write a bestseller up there? All bestsellers haven’t been written yet!

I can’t wait to come home to this warm and loving home. Sit down with the guitar, print out a new song and strum while I nibble a bit on some candy and have a Coke. And I have so much blogging to catch up on and so much I want to show! And test and find out – and show that too! I’m looking forward to filming, blogging and hopefully some peace will come along eventually too 😅

The first period of time after the house is placed in it’s final location in the forest will probably be a bit “turbulent” with moving loads and everything that goes with it. I have so many thoughts about how I want it all to be, where things should be placed, what should be built and done both inside and outside. I feel impatient on one hand, but at the same time a calm energy. This is going to be so good! 😍

I look forward to having friends and family visit, but I guess I look forward just as much to just being me. Me, myself and Irene 🥂🎸🎶🎙️

Would love to hear from you!

Thank you so much for reading ❤️

  1. Dalen Transport proves to be the real superheroes in this scenario, arriving with their specialized trailer at Vestfold Minihus by 8:00 for the scheduled transport. The added convenience of a hired tractor and driver to skillfully back the house onto the trailer adds to the anticipation. The meticulous process of dismantling wheels and drag before transport only adds to the excitement. Looking forward to the successful journey!
