I found a parking spot but I have a huuuge problem!

What people fear the most about tiny houses on wheels is the hustle of finding a good parking spot. For me, this was a smooth process and I guess it had something to do with my timing, which platforms I chose to use and a pinch of luck. I don’t think it is as hard as people assume it is, and I can recommend asking in Facebook groups for available spots. Or of you have some kind of a buy-and-sell markedplace like Craigs List or what it’s called. In Norway it’s called finn.no (meaning «find»). I had several spots to chose from in the end, but the choice was obvious!

Welcome to the beautiful

❤️ TYRIFJORDEN ❤️

My house will be placed to the right of the red house, on top of the little stone hill which gives me an amazing view!

Delicious facts:

  • Amazing view
  • Nature all around
  • 30-40 min from Oslo
  • My own part of a big parcel garden
  • Sand beach
  • ATW and tractor available
  • All pets allowed
  • Transport by buss
  • Monthly fee: 370 $
  • The best part: Parking permit!

It really is a breathtaking view over the farm and Tyrifjorden from where my house will be placed. I want to build a 3 meters (9,8 feet) deep deck along the whole house so I can sit there and enjoy the sun rise and set. I have sun the whole day. On this picture you see where the sun will set.

Picture above:

The sun will rise above the cabin over there and maybe I’ll just climb up on my roof? My house is 4,4 meters (14,4 feet) high and the whole roof is a deck! I imagine bringing some chill furniture, a grill, my guitar, some cold ones and just stay there the whole day (and night looking at the stars?). I also have an eletrical outlet almost at the top of my house to power up a heating lamp, electric grill, lights and so on. All of the eletrical work is sponsored by Bravida. Thank you soo much! ❤️

Picture above:

The trench/ditch on the picture is for the power cord going to my house. I will get 32 Ah current and I hope that will be enough. That is at least what is standard in tiny houses in Norway. All of the electrical supplements, cables, fuse box, switches, dimmers, floor heating and designer outlets are all sponsored by Etman. You will see it in the new YouTube in the bottom of this page 🥂 I am so grateful ❤️

In addition the farm owner has drilled for water and 99 meters 324 feet down in dirt and rock they found water! Yay! So this is what it looks like when you drill for water. Even though the water is very clean, I wanted to have a filter, and I got a perfect one sponsored by Hyttetorget 😍

One always thinks that ones own baby is the prettiest, but I mean it! Oh my gosh I love my house so much! ❤️ So clean! So raw(r)! New thing this week is that they have cut the siding. I could choose between having visible trailer or have the siding cover the trailer. I chose the last option and I couldn’t be happier! The beautiful siding is sponsored by generous Bergene Holm and is called Tryr Røykbrun. I am totally in love! And the elegant and playful front door and side window is sponsored by Swedoor and is called Pulse Character Eco. I love the combination of the siding and all the black windows and details. It makes it so clean and sensual ❤️ Soon my smart doorlock Doorman L3S sponsored by Yale will be mounted.

Outside lights on both sides of the doors, a huge deck and rails on the roof is what’s coming for the front of the house. May want to have a small roof over the front door. All the lights inside and outside is sponsored by Philips Hue and I am SO excited and can’t wait to set it all up!!

But let’s get to the big problem!

My house is on a tractor-trailer, yes, but it all stops there, unfortunately.

Even though I have been told from the beginning that my house can be pulled by a tractor, that is not the case. I called the Road Service and learned that it is actually totally illegal because of two rules:

1. A tractor can only pull a trailer with the maximum with of 255cm (8,3 inches). If the trailer or cargo is wider, the cargo has to be some kind of farm-equiptment, not a boat, house or something like that.

As my house is 360cm (11,9 feet) wide, I am exceeding those limits extremely.

2. A tractor is not allowed to drive more than 50 kilometers (30 miles) from home (which is kinda cute). And as it is 100 kilomters from my builders at Vestfold Minihus to Tyrifjorden, it’s just another reason to lay off the tractor.

Prior to talking to the Road Service I did get to ask some tractor guys if they would be so kind and transport my house to Tyrifjorden. Most of them wanted between 1500-2000 dollars for the job and wanted to go by night. Naive as I am thought this was to avoid too much traffic as my house can go no faster than 40kmt, BUT NOW I understand that it was because they wanted to avoid attention and police!

Help?

Here you can see where Tyrifjorden is ❤️ About 30 min from Oslo!

I have contacted many big «special transport»companies!

Either they don’t answer or they don’t have the right equiptment! I seriously hope something works out, or else I will have to buy a thousand balloons and do it like the old man does it in the incredible sad Disney movie UP 💔🎈

A tiny light in the tunnel (that is not a train coming towards me, lol)

My house needs two things:

  1. Transport to Tyrifjorden
  2. A lift to get my house up on it’s hill

and the last part is SOLVED!

Gather pen and paper, people, and write down this super company:

Skoveng

«In Skoveng we feel that we have a big resposibility for our environment and aim to lower our emissions. We have big ambitions to use greener machines and by 2030 we hope to have zero emissions. And we are very proud to be the first in the Nordic Region (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, The Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland) with eletrical cranes!»

These guys has sponsored me with the lift in Tyrifjorden, to get me up on my Lion King hill! And I am sitting here full of gratiture and tears in my eyes. Thank you, thank you, thank you, angels!

I will be so happy when (if?) the transport works out! I am so ready to move! Want to put in my furniture and get to know my doors and windows, my Cinderella toilet, the door knobs, the floor, the smell, the kitchen, lofts and in general find out what my new daily routines will look like!

Another thing I need to get:

A CAR!

It has to be a cooool electric car that will match this cooool house! And the norwegian company Easee has sponsored me with their amazing car charger, so I am READY! In the mean time, I will borrow my mothers little purple car 💜

Could you live in Tyrifjorden?

If yes (or no, don’t want to loose you, dear reader), please read on!

Now that you have seen what Tyrifjorden has to offer, let me tell you a little bit about who lives there!

Meet Arild!

Owner of the farm and a handyman! He got the farm from his parents with intentions of making it «alive», and he is well on his way. On the farm there will be a parcel garden where those who live there participate in making it a place to grow food and other things. He has alot of projects going on and the farm will slowly evolve. If you want to borrow the tractor or other tools, that is quite all right. All kinds of animals are allowed and as we are having a cute little Staffordshire Bull Terrier girl in near future, this is perfect! Arild is also thinking about having some living lawn mowers like goats or sheep, and they are so cute! It’s going to be so much fun!

Arild has fought with the government (because a parking permit is not an easy thing to get – yet!) and guess what!?!

He gets to have THREE tiny houses on his land!

Today it is Ann Christin and me who have been so lucky to get two of the spots, and that means there is room for one more!

This is Ann Christin!

A creative lady with a strong voice! I got to know her as we ordered the same trailer at the same time, we are building our houses simultaneously at Vestfold Minihus AND we’re ending up next to eachother on this farm! It’s so insane! She is a happy and kind lady where the laugh is not far away.

Now over to YOU, dear reader!

I know Norway may be far away from you, but anyways! Do you want to live with us? The third lot is being prepared as we speak and will be available from mid June. We offer both good company and privacy and we’re looking for some one who would like to join in on the parcel garden and be a part of our community.

It this sounds interesting, please send me and email at ireneminihus @ gmail.com and in the Subject field, please write «Tyrifjorden / your name»

Tell us a little about your selv and why you would like to live here. And please add a picture of you and your tiny house 😍

Would love to hear from you!

Thank you so much for reading ❤️

🌈Irene

  1. Oh dear, transport sounds like a BIG problem. Don’t you hate 20/20 hindsight-should have checked that out before starting the project. I’m sure you’ll find someone to do it even if it is moving in the dark like a thief in the night!

    Your site looks perfect!
