My tiny house on wheels has POWER!

Of all the things you must have in a house, electricity certainly is one of the most important! Light, heat, cooking, smart house things and even the toilet need electricity, so this was sooo good to finally get in place! But is it always easy to do very simple things??

I have to start with a big HOORAY, because it occurred to me now, five minutes before posting this post, that this is the FIRST post in the category “Tiny Living!” So much fun!! Finally!!! Almost all previous posts have been in the category “The Tiny Process”.

Now a new era certainly begins!

August 28th, 2023:

“I connected the power cable to the house.”

I could just have written this, and the whole blog post would be done.

But NO, more explanation is needed!

Two days after my huge tiny house was lifted by crane into its comfy place in the forest, it was time for the next step:

⚡ POWER! ⚡

With my long legs, I had measured that it should be exactly SEVEN meters (23 feet) from the power OUTLET to the power INLET on the short wall of the tiny house. The power cable I needed is available in a 10 meter (33 feet) package, so it was absolutely perfect!!

To read about how the actual preparation was done, take a look here!

Happy with the measuring, I got in my car and fired up Little Purples jet engines.

I drove up to Presterud Elektro and got hold of an absolutely beautiful 10 meter (33 feet) cable and lots of good wishes from the guys.

In my head, I thought about how much it means to have power in the everyday lives of the vast majority of people. And that it is important to appreciate it in between power cuts.

Until now, if my mobile has run out of power (which it often does when filming a lot), I had to get in the car and drive a bit while it charged in the car.

What a luxury it will be to be able to charge at home, I thought.

Once I was back on my land, I see the tiny house glistening in the sun and almost shaking because it’s so excited to get electricity ⚡

I rolled up my sleeves and rolled out the cable.

I smirked as I connected one blue end into the house as I took a deep, deep breath with my eyes closed.

Then I got a good grip on the other blue end

and started to walk the seven metres (23 feet)…

What?

Jesus Christ..!

About 33 centimeters (one foot) from the outlet. Whyyy?

The only logical explanation for this is that the earth has stretched during the night.

Bummer.

Time to go to Vestby and find the Malmberg store and ask if the have a longer cable.

Next size after 10 meters (33 ft) was 25 meters (82 ft)
and the price increased from $150 to $250!
Love it!

Suddenly the sun came out! More pleasant to work in a t-shirt than with a bubble jacket. Hurray!!

⚡ Welcome in, 32A ⚡

The big electrical revelation!

I had brought a work lamp with me as a power quality controller!

One by one I lifted the 20 fuses…

And THERE the ghost face appeared – super ready to tell horror stories about short power cables!!

HOORAY!

If you’re happy and you know it.. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

What a feeling!

What a happiness and what a

LUXURY!!

Now it’s time to check if the rest of the 50 outlets work!

💡And remember to dance the lighting dance! 💡

The light of life in the house of life!

And now I have to humbly thank two big sponsors who have made all of this both super cool and possible:

Sponsor Etman

Fantastic Etman has contributed absolutely everything of electrical materials that the house has needed – and more than that! Everything from fuse boxes, fuses and cables to super smart designer sockets with USB (in matt black ❤️), lights, heating cables (both for floors and in water pipes), earth spikes and you name it! It is an honor to be part of this generous team! Etman is also the supplier of all electrical equipment for the TV series Eventyrlig Oppussing! Soooo cool!

One of Norway’s largest electrician chains, Bravida, has sewn the entire house together with wires, cables and everything needed to give life, light and heat to the house! I even got to spend a day as an “apprentice electrician” and had a blast! Everything works, everything is perfect, everything is Bravida!

Thank you so very, very much! ❤️

Take a look at the complete collection of my sponsors.

Thank you for reading❤️ I truly appreciate it!
